Navteq Map Data Incorporated in Microsoft SQL Server

March 03, 2008: Navteq is now offering its map data for use with the spatial enhancements in Microsoft SQL Server 2008.

SQL Server 2008 offers spatial support that enables customers to use and extend location-based data through spatial-enabled applications, according to Microsoft and Navteq. Incorporating Navteq map data further provides an opportunity to incorporate location intelligence and geographic data and tools in both enterprise and departmental business applications, the companies said.

"Our customers demand reliable map data for their spatial solutions," said Kim Saunders, senior director of marketing for SQL Server at Microsoft Corp. "Navteq provides SQL Server developers around the world the opportunity to build high-quality, location-enabled enterprise applications that serve a variety of industries."

Navteq map data spans 72 countries and territories on six continents; the company provides technical support and resources to developers via the Navteq Network for Developers. The company has made sample map data available for Microsoft developers to download from the Navteq Network for Developers website.
